Building on a structured and fruitful 15-year collaboration between Manuel Rosa-Calatrava’s team at Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie, CIRI, Lyon and Guy Boivin’s laboratory at Centre de Recherche du CHU de Québec – Université Laval, Québec, Didier Samuel, chairman and CEO of INSERM and Eugénie Brouillet, Vice-Rector in charge of Research, Creation and Innovation at Université Laval, have formalised RESPIVIR (www.respivir.io) as a joint laboratory.

The aim of this 5-year mandate is to support and develop our research programmes in the field of emerging and re-emerging respiratory viral infectious diseases and the development of innovative prophylactic and therapeutic strategies. RESPIVIR has already received fundings and labels from Université Laval, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique CNRS and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.

Several partnership agreements with the United States and Canada were signed at the INSERM 60th anniversary celebration at the French Embassy in the United States, Washington DC. We are proud of this recognition and very honoured to have taken part in this day of scientific exchanges, in the presence of Laurent Billi, the French ambassador to the USA, and numerous personalities from INSERM’s partner institutions.
