Virnext is proud to highlight a new milestone in the transfer and scale-up of an innovation developed through its technology research platform at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the RESPIVIR International Research Laboratory.
Developed in collaboration with VirexpR and Sphaira, the technology enables the generation of controlled atmospheres highly contaminated with infectious viruses, followed by their biological collection in large-volume test facilities. This approach makes it possible to evaluate air treatment technologies under realistic operating conditions.
The scale-up of this technology by VirexpR marks an important step towards the development and evaluation of innovative solutions for indoor air quality and public health. This transfer was supported by Lyon Ingénierie Projets and EZUS Lyon, with the support of Groupe TERA.
This work was developed within the GESPPAIR programme, supported by the regionalised France 2030 i-Démo programme, bringing together complementary expertise from academic, institutional and industrial partners within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes ecosystem.
The project also highlights the value of public-private collaboration in transforming academic research into operational technologies addressing emerging challenges in airborne transmission of infectious agents.
